Qamar-ol-Moluk Vaziri (Qamar Khanum Seyed Hosayn Khan) Qamar was an Iranian singer known as "the Queen of Persian music" and the first woman of her time to sing in public in Iran without wearing a veil.
"Girls of Cyrus" is one of the first musical works in Iran that defends the rights of women and opposes the hijab was sung by Qamar for the first time.
She was revered for her mastery of Persian vocal music, especially her sensitive rendition of tasnif and tarâna. Qamar-ol-Moluk Vaziri was born in Takestan and raised by her grandmother.
She began her singing career at age 19 and was known for performing without the veil among men.
Vaziri worked with songwriters and poets for over 30 years and devoted her last years to philanthropic activities. She died in 1959 and is buried in Zahir o-dowleh cemetery.
