 Leila Hatami is an accomplished Iranian actress and one of the most recognizable faces in Iranian cinema.

Leila Hatami comes from a family with deep roots in the film industry. Her father, Ali Hatami, was a well-known Iranian director, screenwriter, and playwright, and her mother, Zari Khoshkam, was an actress. This artistic background likely shaped her inclination toward acting.

Leila Hatami graduated with a degree in Electrical Engineering from École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) in Switzerland but then followed her passion for acting, studying French literature at the University of Lausanne before returning to Iran.

Her acting career started with minor roles in her father's films, but her breakthrough came with Dariush Mehrjui's film "Leila" (1996), in which she played the title role. Her portrayal of a young woman grappling with social and familial pressures won critical acclaim.

Hatami's international fame skyrocketed when she starred in Asghar Farhadi's "A Separation" (2011), which won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. Her performance in the film also earned her the Silver Bear for Best Actress at the Berlin Film Festival.
