N
Nosrat-ol-Molok Kashanchi was an eminent Iranian medical doctor.
She was among the first ten women in Iran to be admitted to medical school and receive medical degrees, making her the country's first female legal Medical Examiner.
Following her high school education, Kashanchi completed the midwifery program at the University of Tehran. She then traveled to Berlin, Germany, to continue her medical education in early 1939. However, with the onset of the Second World War, she returned to Tehran and gained admission to Tehran University Medical School, becoming one of the first ten female medical students in Iran.
Subsequently, she was accepted into the Obstetrician/Gynecology program at the University of Paris, France, and returned to Iran in 1952. Upon her return from France, Kashanchi opened a clinic specializing in obstetrics and gynecology in a property owned by her father.
She also spearheaded the construction of a fully-equipped hospital in an impoverished section of southern Tehran, with support from her father and other major figures in the business community. The hospital, named BAZARGANAN and located on Ray Street in Tehran, still exists to this day.
In addition to her private practice, Kashanchi was employed by the Ministry of Justice in Iran, specifically within the Office of Medical Examiner.
She founded the Women's Section at the office and was entrusted with overseeing the construction of the Justice Ministry Hospital.
